Cornerstone was retained by Lewis Operating Corporation to design a new vehicular bridge along the proposed Tsushima Street alignment crossing Refugio Creek. The bridge consists of an approximately 48-foot wide by 157-foot long 4-span cast-in-place flat slab bridge supported on 24-inch diameter cast-in-steel-shell (CISS) piles at the piers and 18-inch diameter CISS piles at the abutments. The bridge accommodates two lanes of traffic and two 5-foot wide sidewalks for pedestrian use. It was designed to carry various dry utilities, including gas, electric, telephone, and cable television to serve the adjacent housing development along South Front Street while also incorporating aesthetic barrier treatment and custom bridge lighting.
