State Route 132 / Bird Road Interchange was a Caltrans Special Funded Project which includes improvements to the existing at-grade crossing to increase capacity and enhance safety by providing a bridge overcrossing and on- and off-ramps to State Route 132.  The improvements also addressed a projected increase in sand and gravel production truck traffic through the year 2027 by providing improved access to aggregate mining sites south of SR 132. Also included in this project were 300m of Caltrans Type 1 retaining walls and a triple RCB extension as a part of the roadway improvements.
