The Tidewater Aquatic Center project is a 14,000 square foot facility consisting of three wood-framed structures to store boats, training equipment, meeting rooms, restrooms, and a security residence. Since the project site is underlain by bay muds, the buildings are supported on a mat slab foundation designed to minimize the impacts of differential settlements and possible liquefaction that may occur at this soft soil site. Specific attention was given to mitigating corrosion issues due to close proximity to the Oakland Estuary.
