The new 12,500 sf structure fire station for the Menlo Park Fire Protect District replacing an existing functionally obsolete station. This urban location necessitated a two story structure to accommodate 3 apparatus bays with support rooms, offices, meeting rooms, and residential structures. The building is structural masonry construction for durability and safety with a structural steel frame supporting metal deck at the roof and concrete over metal deck at the floors. The structure was designed to allow for good day lighting at the second floor residence to reduce lighting demands and solar heat gain, and used recycled material where possible. In addition to the fire station, Cornerstone provided design for several site structures, including a generator enclosure site fencing, and a communication equipment room for a 60 foot tall communications tower.
